A Marineland house between the Matanzas River and the ocean
A house in Marineland has water on both sides: the Matanzas River to the west and the Atlantic to the east, with A1A between them. That narrow strip of land takes weather from every direction.
Wind from the ocean
An east wind carries salt spray onto every surface that faces the beach. Paint chalks, metal rusts and screens loosen sooner here than on the mainland.
The river side
On the west side, homes look out over the Matanzas River and its marsh. A northeaster or the high tides of fall push water up the river, and yards along it can stay wet for days.
Storms that never land here
A hurricane passing offshore can still send surf over the dunes and onto A1A at this end of the county. Photos before it and after it give an owner far away two dated views of the house.
A plan through the year
- A set each month while you are away
- One before and one after any named storm that comes near
- A drone video once a season, for the roof and the whole lot
