Marineland on the county line: Flagler or St. Johns County?
Marineland is one of the smallest towns in Florida, and one of the few that sits on a county line. Most of it lies in Flagler County, with the line to St. Johns County crossing its north end.
Where the line falls
Driving north on A1A from the Hammock, you pass Washington Oaks Gardens State Park, enter Marineland, and cross into St. Johns County before reaching Matanzas Inlet. A house's county decides which property appraiser lists it and which county's services reach it.
Why it matters for photos
We serve the Flagler County side. A Marineland home south of the line is part of the same service area as the rest of Flagler County's coast, from the Hammock down through Beverly Beach and Flagler Beach.
A small town between two waters
West of A1A is the Matanzas River, the Intracoastal Waterway's name along this stretch; east of it is the Atlantic. The River to Sea Preserve, inside the town, runs from one to the other.
What owners far away want to see
- The roof line after a windy week
- Sand and spray on the ocean side
- The yard and the drive after a summer storm
- The whole lot, from the river to the dune, from the air
